Engineer/Technician (m/w) for EU projects in Horizon 2020 - Circular Economy

We are currently searching for a motivated, experienced and driven Engineer/Technician to join our innovative project development team!


The project

alchemia-nova GmbH, a Viennese-based Institute for research and innovation (, has been focused on innovative applied plant chemistry since 2006, with the aim of closing loops and facilitating a circular economy in combination with nature-based solutions. Within the EU project HOUSEFUL, funded under the Horizon 2020 programme  to demonstrate the opportunities for circularity in buildings (project duration 54 months, 5/2018-10/2022), we will refurbish and transform our office building into a beacon for circular economy strategies.

Duties and  responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for technical support of the project building for the duration of the project, the manufacture of prototypes, the coordination and process implementation for the up-cycling of on-site materials drawing from the disciplines of carpentry, welding and the usual handcraft). The applicant will further support the design, implementation, installations and prototyping of a broad spectrum of innovative technologies across a number of our other H2020 project.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction and/or engineering with excellent manual/craftmanship skills
  • Degree or significant practical experience and strong background in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical discipline (industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics)
  • Profound understanding of mechanics, structures and mechanisms
  • Passable knowledge in material science
  • Expert knowledge of SolidWorks, Autodesk software & Microsoft Office.

  • Proficient verbal and written English (German is an advantage)
  • European citizenship.


What we offer

The successful applicant will join an international and highly motivated team of interdisciplinary scientists, and will be responsible for a number of innovative actions going beyond the state-of-the-art. The salary, starting from EUR 2.505,00 per month (gross, full-time, 14 x per year), is based on the Austrian collective agreement for extramural research (employment group D) and is negotiable relative to the applicant’s qualifications and professional experience.
