We are looking for a Technical R&D Assistant (M/F/X) in the field of vaccine development


Our lab is located at the Karl Franzen University of Graz, in the Institute of Biology in Graz, Austria.  We are interested in the health and wellbeing of beneficial insects. Our primary focus is on developing novel approaches to protecting our honey bees. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed technician with industry experience to become part of our international team of researchers and R&D experts and help further our mission.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Setting up, performing, analyzing and documenting robust immunology assays
  • Assisting in method development and manufacturing processes of GxP-compliant immune assays (e.g. ELISA).
  • Cultivation of microbes 
  • Performance of equipment qualifications, routine checks and maintenance work according to relevant SOPs
  • Writing and reviewing relevant documentation (SOPs, Protocols)
  • Assisting with program management activities
  • Work with honeybees
  • Gene and protein expression analysis


Your qualification:

  • BSc/MSc in relevant field, preferably immunology, microbiology or biotechnology
  • 2-5 yrs of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge and experience in GLP
  • Knowledge and experience with: basic microbiology, QPCR, basic lab operations
  • Vaccine background is an asset
  • Knowledge of cell culture, antibody-based assays and assay development are a plus
  • Independent work mind-set, self-starter and can work with minimal supervision
  • Capable of planning, executing and documenting large and complex studies
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • A team player
  • Some international travel may be required
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Open to flexible working hours in the case of need
  • Experienced working with in sects and beekeeping is a plus


We are offering you to become part of a dynamic team of experts that works closely with our industry partners in a translational setting to advance our science and discoveries for societal benefit. We offer a minimum salary of EUR 2,000 gross/month, with possible overpayment depending on education, qualification and work experience.
