The world’s first tidal lag hydroelectric power plant
The first tidal lag hydroelectric power station is being constructed in Swansea Bay, Wales. ANDRITZ HYDRO, the global market leader for hydropower plants with headquarters in Weiz, Austria, supplies electromechanical equipment for the project. The tidal-lagged hydroelectric power plant will be built in the Severn estuary, which has the second-largest tidal range in the world, and will supply 155,000 households with renewable energy. During the spring floods the river benefits from an average water level of 8.5 meters.
